if i don’t post that often here on tumblr, this is what’s keeping me busy. :)
Programming is my job and i’m on my 2nd year this coming June. The experience is surely like your not-so-average park ride. it has its own thrills, fun, & downs & ups,, etc..
The thrilling part comes when you are assigned a new project. You are excited as a kid that’s about to be given a brand new coloring book; there’s always a goal of finishing it with the least mistakes even when you are not yet familiar about what’s in it. :)
It sure is fun! You get to encounter new set of processes you’ve never tried before. As you add experience, you handle more challenging tasks, complicated, and will let you sit longer infront of your computer because your enthusiasm’s kickin’ in.
As the process becomes a bit more complicated, you’ll start drinking coffee to keep you up and focused on times you slept late the night before, and when you start testing your program, you encounter bugs. Bugs are errors that hinders your program to run from start to finish. These are often red characters that pops right before your eyes and then you start tracking it down and resolve it (kill it! if it were real bugs.haha!). Taking it literally, you sometimes dream of it, it bugs your sleep! And when you reach a certain level, it will also make you think while you’re on your ride to the office. It’s not everyday that you’ve been bothered that way.hahaha!! Trial and error will come into picture. You do it a lot of times until you run out of red notes. This phase makes me eat a lot from where I am sitting to keep me sane & i feel so busy that I had no time to go to McDonald’s for merienda.haha!
And just when you have done your best, you try to run your program again and voila! It went smooth from end-to-end, you feel the victory of hitting the finish line of a marathon!
It’s a loop. You start and finish something, and do it again. One of the many reasons why people don’t last on their jobs is that the routine doesn’t make them stay. I can say that the experience was overall fun. Challenges are what keeps me up and running. And from a Japanese proverbs I will quote, “Fall seven times, and stand-up eight”. Love what you do, and it will be just as fun! =)
And oh yea, that’s my code. blurry, but pretty neat huh? i can see that.. hihi ^___^
